Bring your own key (BYOK)
Last updated: July 6, 2026
These Bring-Your-Own-Key terms (“BYOK Terms”) are part of, and incorporated into, the Terms of Service between you and Joisk Studios Inc.(“Joisk,” “we,” “us”). They apply whenever you connect your own AI provider API key to Joisk. In all other respects the Terms of Service apply in full, including the disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing-law provisions.
1. What BYOK is — and isn't
BYOK lets you connect an API key from your own account with a third-party AI provider (for example Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek, or OpenRouter) so that your builds run on your provider account at your cost, instead of consuming Joisk credits.
BYOK is nota way to connect a consumer subscription such as a Claude or ChatGPT plan. Those subscriptions do not grant API access and their terms do not permit using the account to power third-party software. You must supply an API key that you are authorized to use, obtained from the provider’s own developer console.
2. Your account, your responsibility
You represent and agree that:
- the key belongs to you (or you are authorized to use it), and using it on Joisk does not violate your agreement with the provider;
- you are solely responsible for all usage, charges, rate limits, and quota on your provider account — Joisk does not pay, reimburse, or cap them;
- you will comply with the provider’s own terms, acceptable-use, and usage policies, which apply to everything you generate through your key;
- you are responsible for setting any spend limits or budgets you want in your provider’s dashboard.
3. How your key and prompts are handled
Your key is transmitted to Joisk over an encrypted connection, encrypted at rest with authenticated encryption, and stored only in server-side storage that is never exposed to any client. We never display the key again and never share it. You can remove it at any time, which deletes the stored key.
When a build runs on your key, your build prompts and the current build content are sent directly to the provider you chose, and that provider processes them under its own terms and privacy policy. You are directing that transmission. See our Privacy Policy for how Joisk handles your data.
4. Output, quality, and availability
Output produced through your own key comes from a third-party model you selected. Joisk does not control, warrant, or take responsibility for that output, the model’s behavior, its availability, or its pricing, and results may differ from Joisk’s standard build tiers. Provider outages, errors, revoked keys, or rate limits may interrupt or fail a build; that is between you and your provider.
Ownership of, and responsibility for, what you build and publish is governed by the Terms of Service and the Generative-content terms, the same as any other build.
5. Credits and billing
While a valid BYOK key covers a build, that build does not consume Joisk credits. Any separately-priced services you use (for example image or media generation that Joisk provides) may still apply, and are disclosed where they occur. Your Joisk subscription (if any) is unaffected and is governed by the Refund Policy.
6. No warranty; limitation of liability; indemnity
BYOK is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Joisk disclaims all warranties relating to third-party providers and their models, and is not liable for any charges, losses, or damages arising from your use of your own key, including overspend, provider policy violations, or provider outages. You agree to indemnify and hold Joisk harmless from any claim arising out of your use of a third-party provider through BYOK, as further described in the Terms of Service.
7. Changes
We may update these BYOK Terms from time to time; the “last updated” date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be surfaced in-product where practical. Continued use of BYOK after a change means you accept it.
